McKenzie Borst

McKenzie Borst is a highly qualified, licensed teacher residing in Indiana. She enjoys baking and taking walks with her family. After graduating from Taylor University with her Bachelor’s degree in Education and minor in Psychology, McKenzie taught elementary school for 5 years. She has experience working with IEP’s and 504’s, and has worked with student’s both in person and online. McKenzie is trained in Phonics First (an Orton-Gillingham curriculum). She is passionate about encouraging young readers and writers by focusing on a better understanding of their phonics skills. McKenzie also enjoys motivating students in math through hands-on, practical learning strategies. She is excited to work with your child and help them enjoy their academics through engaging activities. She is also the admin assistant, which means she meets with families as they do their initial consultation and supports the family as they connect with their tutor.

Laura Sharpe

Laura Sharpe is a graduate of Samford University with a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood/ Elementary/ Special Education. She taught elementary/ special education for two years in the States, prior to moving to West Africa. For the past 18 years, she has called West Africa home. She is currently homeschooling her own three children, ages 17, 15 and 10. A self-professed “homeschool nerd mom” there are not many curriculums that she has not tried to use in her own homeschooling journey. Currently, she serves as Director and Head Tutor at a center for children with special needs in West Africa. She is looking forward to being able to teach your students and help to take their journey of learning to the next level.

Ja'Naya Bromley

Ja’Naya graduated from Liberty University with an Associate of Arts in Creative Writing, a  Bachelor of Science in English and Writing – Journalism, and a Journalism Education  Certificate. She is trained in Phonics First Level 1 and Level 2, an Orton-Gillingham Curriculum for students in grades K-12. She also holds her TESOL/TEFL, TEYL, and TEOL certificates. Ja’Naya is a published author and  enjoys writing family-friendly Christian books with her twin sister. She believes any child  can learn, no matter their age or ability. When teaching, Ja’Naya enjoys motivating,  encouraging, uplifting, and incorporating fun ways to learn. She looks forward to teaching  your child and leading them on a path to serve Jesus Christ and further His Kingdom. Her  favorite scripture is 1 Timothy 4:12, “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are  young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in  purity.”

Jay'Den-Alexis Bromley

Jay’Den-Alexis graduated from Liberty University with an Associate of Arts in Creative Writing, a Bachelor of Science in English and Writing -Journalism, and a Journalism Education certificate. She also has her TESOL, TEFL, TEYL, and TEOL certificates. She is a published author and enjoys writing Christian novels. She also enjoys teaching children with disabilities such as autism. Her humble and patient personality will connect with your child whether focusing on how to read or write. Jay’Den-Alexis would love to help your child grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ and encourage them to know: Matthew 19:26, “. . . with God all things are possible.”

Mary Jackson

Mary was homeschooled until high school; she attended her local public school, hoping to understand both perspectives better. She started college at Belhaven University, a Christian college in Jackson, Mississippi; she went on to study abroad in Italy before completing her Bachelor’s in Psychology (with a minor in Spanish) at UW-Whitewater in 2017. She has worked with kids in a variety of roles: as a camp counselor at Lake Waubesa Bible Camp, as an after-school art teacher, and as an aunt of 10 nieces and nephews. Mary is passionate about kids, especially the wallflowers and the kids who sit at lunch alone. In her free time, Mary is an avid gardener and animal enthusiast; she plans to introduce her pet frog to students during icebreakers and break times.

Wayne Anderson

Wayne is a retired public school teacher. He spent 31 years at an elementary school in Washington State, so he’s familiar with a wide range of subject matter. Most of his classes were 5th grade, but he also taught 2nd grade for nine years. He would also be comfortable working with middle school students. Presently, Wayne lives near Abilene, Kansas, with his wife and their youngest daughter. They moved to Kansas following his retirement to be close to his wife’s family and enjoy a peaceful life in the country. The opportunity to openly incorporate his faith in Jesus Christ with academic instruction motivated Wayne to want to join the Family Focused Tutors team. He is excited to be able to serve God by assisting students and their families in their educational journey. Throughout his life, Wayne has been involved in children’s ministries. He is currently teaching children each Sunday at his local church, as well as leading a Bible study for men on Wednesday evenings.

Carey Ragsdale

Carey graduated with Honors from Indiana University Kokomo with a BS in Early Childhood Education. She also obtained a MA in Early Childhood Education from Ball State University. She has held a variety of positions in the educational world such as: Title I reading aide, Special Education aide, and Head Start Classroom teacher. She now homeschools her own children ages 12 and 14, and is involved on the Parent Board of a local homeschool group. She coached volleyball for 3 years as well. In her free time, she loves spending time with her family, reading, and crocheting. She loves to work with kids and feels so blessed to be able to help parents and children with education.

Margaret Hintz

Meg Hintz is a graduate of Eastern Michigan University with a bachelor’s degree in Science, Early Childhood, and Elementary Education. She taught preschool and elementary school for 27 years in Michigan. Her time in public school included 5 years as a Student Coach tutoring elementary children in Mathematics and English Language Arts. Training through her years of teaching include Math Recovery, SiOP for English language learners, Franklin Covey’s The Leader in Me, Comprehension Connections, and Phonics First, an Orton Gillingham approach to teaching phonics to elementary children. Currently, she is adjusting to semi-retirement in Michigan where she resides with her husband and daughter (20) who is a college junior. Meg enjoys reading, crocheting, camping, kayaking, hiking, and cooking, especially at church.

Karen Wolters

Karen is a dedicated educator with a B.A from SUNY Cortland, a master’s degree in education from Crown College and extensive experience teaching various subjects across multiple grade levels, both in the United States and internationally. As a Level 3 Educational Therapist, I specialized in providing tailored support to students with diverse learning needs. My experience in developing and implementing a comprehensive Learning Support program has helped to empower children to become confident, competent learners. It is my goal to help students recognize and leverage their unique strengths, setting them up for lifelong success.

Angela Nicole Williams

Angela (Teacher Angie) Williams is a graduate of California State University, Fresno with a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies (secondary education), with a concentration in English Literature. She has over 20 years of overall teaching experience. And, 7 of those 20 years have been as an EFL/ESL instructor. Angela was tasked with the duties of curriculum development, lead teaching, and teacher training at her local church’s children’s ministry. She loves teaching her own homeschooled children, and other children as well. Many parents are pleased with her ability to encourage students with her use of props and singing for illustration. They also appreciate the way that she scaffolds the lesson. Angela’s years of experience have taught her to quickly assess a student’s skill level, and provide extensions for comprehension checks accordingly.

Anna Conn

Anna Conn graduated from Emmaus Bible College in 2019 with a double degree in Elementary Education and Biblical Theology. Anna is a licensed elementary school teacher who has been teaching second grade for the past 4 years. She enjoys helping students learn the basics of reading and the foundations to math. She has worked with a variety of students and has loved all of them. Anna looks forward to meeting your family and helping your child grasp the foundations of their education.

Megan H.

Megan graduated from Augsburg College with a degree in Elementary & Pre-Primary Education. She has spent 8 years as a Pre-K teacher in Minnesota, and 3 years as an English and 4th grade teacher overseas. It is her joy to work with younger elementary students and their families, seeing them grow together through interactive, high-quality education. Megan has experience working with children from a wide variety of backgrounds, including children with special needs, and children/young adults learning English as a second or third language. She is currently helping to develop curriculum and train teachers overseas. She loves teaching in hands-on, creative ways, and looks forward to exploring your student’s unique and beautiful gifts!

Debbie Brotzge

Debbie received her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Central. Washington University, and she is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Christian Apologetics from Southern Evangelical Seminary. She taught in both public and private school settings before home schooling her daughter for ten years. In her final three years of home school, she established and managed a local home school co-op focused on enrichment classes for upper school kids. She has taught classes in co-op settings for nearly every age level, and she has also worked as a home education consultant to new home school families. Debbie is eager to foster a love of learning in her students and the ability to recognize that all truth is God’s truth. 

Debbie is from the beautiful state of Washington and has called eight states “home” over the years, including New York, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Kentucky. She loves strong coffee, quiet walks, classic films, outdoor recreation, and finding humor in almost every situation. She would live outdoors if it was practical, and when she isn’t studying for a seminary exam you can find her engrossed in a golden age mystery novel. Her husband and teenage daughter are her dearest earthly treasures. Her greatest treasure is the Lord Jesus Christ.

Jannessa Livingood

Jannessa is a Colorado native. Growing up she experienced homeschooling in elementary, later moving to attend private as well as public school. After graduating high school she moved on to pursue a Bachelor degree in Liberal Arts with Elementary Education.  She is passionate about education and helping students feel competent and confident in academic pursuits and how it builds them into who God created them to be. She has 8 years of teaching experience, including 1st, 3rd and 5th grade. She also has previously tutored virtually for students up to 9th grade in various subject areas.  When she isn’t teaching or tutoring she loves to camp, paddleboard, hike or play with her two kiddos and husband.

Bethany Palmer

Bethany graduated from Winona State University with a BS in elementary education in 2004. She went on to earn her MS in Teaching and Reading in 2010 and holds a WI Reading Specialist License. She has in person experience teaching in 5th, 3rd, 2nd, and also taught as a reading specialist and librarian, and is currently a 1st grade teacher at WI Virtual Academy. Bethany is passionate about reading, early phonics skills and writing, and is a cheerleader for all her students! She loves to stay busy, teaching Sunday School at her church, actively serving as the treasurer of a local PTA, and she also runs her own family photography business on the side. Bethany has been married to her high school sweetheart for 20 years and they have 4 kids – one son who is 14 and 3 daughters who are 12, 10 & 7. She looks forward to helping your child grow spiritually and educationally!

Sandra Sawczak

Sandra is a graduate of Eastern Illinois University with a degree in Elementary and Special Education, specializing in Learning Disabilities. She taught for 14 years in a variety of school settings and cultures throughout the Chicagoland area before homeschooling her four children for 22 years. During that time, she developed homeschool support groups and assisted other families navigating learning challenges. While homeschooling, Sandra also worked at Sylvan Learning Center and Scholastic Services, teaching homework support, math and reading remediation, study skills, ACT and SAT prep, and writing. She trained in all Sylvan programs for grades K–12 and beyond. With her background in Special Education, Sandra has worked with students requiring IEPs and 504 plans, differentiating curriculum and materials to meet individual learning styles. She holds a certification in Youth Mental Health from Liberty University and has completed training in Social and Emotional Learning, incorporating strategies to meet the needs of the whole child. Sandra has also developed special needs programs within the local church, children’s ministry, and for children whose parents are in recovery programs. In addition to her professional work, she enjoys traveling with mission groups, hiking, gardening, studying scripture, leading Bible studies, and of course, spending time with her grandbabies!

Joshua Waters

Joshua Waters graduated from Hyles-Anderson College with a bachelor’s degree in secondary education and began teaching at Great Hope Baptist School in the fall of 2013. He taught high school English and math for six years before going back to college in 2019. He recently graduated from Pensacola Christian College with a master’s degree in Educational Leadership. He is currently teaching junior high English and high school math at Landmark Christian School. He has been working with children in many capacities since he was a teenager at his local church. He loves teaching and looks forward to meeting new people all the time. Joshua will work with you and your children to make an impact in their education while being supportive and encouraging in order to boost confidence in academics.

Nicole Rojas

Michaela Abbott

Michaela graduated from Pensacola Christian College with a B.A. in Chemistry and a minor in Mathematics. Since graduation, I have taught science and math at a Christian school, as well as tutored students in those areas. She is currently serving with my husband in full-time ministry working with the youth in my church.

Megan Hoffman

Tammy Perez

Tammy graduated from Azusa Pacific University with her California teaching credential and also from Western Illinois University with a major in Spanish, a minor in French, and significant coursework in Bilingual/Bicultural Education and ESL. She is a state-certified teacher with nearly 20 years of experience, and some of her certifications include all subjects K-8, Spanish K-12, and ESL K-12. She has worked with students both in-person in the classroom setting as well as online. Having served as a missionary in the inner city of Los Angeles, she has taught elementary, middle, and high school students in a variety of geographical locations from the inner city of Los Angeles to towns in south-central Wisconsin. In addition to helping students reach their full potential academically, Tammy is passionate about helping youth discover their identity in Christ and grow in their relationship with Him. Once children know the Lord and know who they are in the Lord, they can really soar. Tammy’s educational philosophy is that all children are capable of learning, and sometimes that requires content and concepts in different ways until it clicks. She is very patient and breaks down concepts, explaining them in different ways as necessary, until students get it. She can teach and tutor students using English or Spanish as the language of instruction. Outside of teaching, Tammy loves spending time with her family, connecting with people, traveling, and interpreting for missions and ministry-related events. Javier Taylor

Javier Taylor was born in Fayetteville, AR and is a graduate of Farmington High School. He received an Associate of Applied Science in Electronics Systems Technology degree in 1995 from the Community College of the Air Force and Bachelor of Applied Science in Biblical Studies from Bethany Bible College in 1998 while serving in the United States Air Force. Two years later he received a B.A. in Mathematics from Thomas A. Edison State University in preparation to teach secondary mathematics in Richardson, TX. Javier later worked as a technical writer and curriculum developer for the Air Force before serving as head of the mathematics department at Canyon Creek Christian Academy in Richardson, TX. Javier and his wife Crystal moved back to Arkansas in the Summer of 2004 to pursue teaching opportunities in the River Valley, where he later completed an M.A. in Teaching from the University of Arkansas at Monticello in 2006. Javier worked at Pottsville high school as a secondary math teacher and then served as a state mathematics specialist first at Arkansas Tech University, and then at the Guy Fenter Education Service Cooperative in Branch, AR. From 2010 to 2016 Javier studied Mathematics Education at The University of Central Arkansas and In 2018 Javier earned a Ph.D. in Christian Education from Bethany Seminary. Javier serves as an Associate Professor of Mathematics at the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville, AR. In 2022 Javier earned a Master of Science in Applied Statistics from Michigan Technical University.

Elisabeth J

Elisabeth graduated in 2019 with a triple major in computer science, math, and statistics. She worked in children’s ministry for several years on the mission field, which included summer programs for underprivileged children. She also worked with children with developmental, physical, behavioral, and emotional needs. Elisabeth enjoys helping to homeschool her younger siblings, writing and crafting. Additionally, she recently wrote an ebook on stewarding the single years well. Her desire to minister to missionary families and MKs led her to begin pursuing her master’s degree in Biblical counseling at Faith Bible Seminary in 2022.

Lanelle Edwards

Lanelle graduated from the University of Maryland with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Chemistry and a Minor in Mathematics. With over 14 years of experience in research, managing labs, training employees, and conducting research, resulted in over 9 publications with co-authorship and acknowledgements in renowned journals. She recently left the field of research to pursue a career in teaching/tutoring high school Math and Science. She serves as a Sunday School teacher at her local church and loves pouring the Word of God into His children. Lanelle
truly believes that we can build a strong foundation on biblical principles to produce a spirit of excellence in all areas of our life including learning. The word of God says in James 1:5 “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, that giveth to all men liberally…” Also the 3 Hebrew boys in Daniel 1:17 “..God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom.” She enjoys seeing the fruit of Christ Jesus come alive in students as they learn and recognize the gifts and talents the Lord has blessed them with.

Baylee Sweat

Baylee is originally from Virginia. She holds a B.S. in Human Services from Old Dominion University and an M.Ed. in Special Education from the University of Lynchburg. She is currently pursuing her reading endorsement through Virginia Commonwealth University.

Baylee began her career as a Special Education teacher in a middle school setting, where she served for four years. She then transitioned to a new public school division and now works as a reading interventionist for students in grades 6 through 8.

She has received training in Orton-Gillingham and has completed both Part 1 and Part 2 of the LETRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling) program.

Outside of teaching and tutoring, Baylee enjoys spending quality time with her three children. Her family is active in their church community, where they attend services regularly and enjoy fellowship with their church family. As both a teacher and a parent, Baylee finds inspiration in her favorite Bible verse:
Proverbs 22:6 – “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.”
